Currently, I have no electricity and no wifi.
For those of you who might not have heard, Pittsburgh got slammed on Tuesday with one of the worst storms we've ever seen. Over 300,000 people lost power. Here is the outage map after they restored electricity to some of the neighborhoods.
I am fortunate to live in a building with a generator so my refrigerator is working and I have one outlet next to my bed with juice. Yesterday morning, I moved the coffee maker into the bedroom. I know how lucky I am, and feel very grateful.
It has been amazing to see posts on social media from neighbors with electricity offering charging stations at their homes and the use of their refrigerators for people with medications that need to be kept cold. It has reminded me that despite the conditions in the world, kindness and generosity still exist.
Today I had planned to write about the process I’ve undertaken over the last year to produce some of my own plays. But voice to text on an android is horrible and I cannot use the computer. So I will write about that next week.
In the meantime, I hope you'll consider joining us live if you can on May 10th for the second set of one- act plays from the full-length piece called Choices. And if you're not in the Pittsburgh area, you can get a ticket for the recording which will be posted the next day on YouTube.
I feel one of the main purposes of theater it's to stimulate conversation and encourage self reflection. The audience reaction to the first two plays that were produced in February accomplished that. It was so rewarding as a playwright to hear people discuss experiences in their own lives that reflected those of the characters. I'm excited to see how these next two accomplish that as well.
All of the proceeds from the tickets go to compensating the cast and crew. As a performer myself, I feel very strongly about remuneration for talent going beyond a slice of pizza.
I hope you'll consider attending and watch the talented actors who have been cast perform this work, then participate in a lively conversation afterwards on the themes and how the choices we make impact not only our lives, but the lives of those around us.

I'm sorry I can't create an actual hyperlink, but doing this on the phone doesn't allow for that. You'll have to go old school and copy and paste.
See you next week,
staci
I’ll try to be there.
